This site contains affiliate links through which we may earn commission. This page explains where that happens, how it works, and the conflict of interest it creates, so that you can decide how much weight to give what you read.
Which pages on this site have affiliate links?
Affiliate links appear on one page only: the comparison of sixteen operators. Each one is marked in the page code as sponsored, and the page carries a disclosure above the content. The guides, the research notes and every other page carry no affiliate links at all.
If you follow one of those links and then open an account or deposit, the operator may pay us commission. Check the offer and its conditions on the operator’s own site: we have not verified that an offer reached through our links matches one available elsewhere.
How casino commission usually works
Casino affiliate agreements commonly pay in one of two ways, or a mix of both. The amount, the qualifying action and how long it lasts depend on the agreement:
- A one-off fee for each new customer who signs up and deposits, often subject to a minimum deposit.
- A share of the operator’s revenue from each customer referred, for a period set by the agreement.
The second model means an affiliate can earn more when referred customers lose more. We think you should know that, because it is the clearest possible example of why a casino site’s recommendations should be read with care — including ours.
What commission affects, and what it does not
It decides which operators are on the comparison page, and their order. The sixteen listed are operators we have an affiliate link for, shown in the order of the position list our affiliate programme supplies. The page is not a survey of every casino outside GamStop, and position on it is not a rating.
It does not change the facts we record. A licence number is either stated in an operator’s footer or it is not; a wagering multiple is either in its terms or it is not. Those findings are dated, repeatable and published whether they flatter an operator or not — we left five brands off the list because we found no licence for them on any register we searched, and the licence note says so.
We do not publish ratings, so there is no score for commission to move.
Which paid arrangements will we refuse?
- Payment to write about an operator in a guide, or to change a finding.
- Operator-supplied copy presented as our own writing.
- Arrangements that require us to remove the responsible-gambling information from any page.
